Lamp Shade Artists
The Butterfly Lamp Shade made by Stellavie has got me interested in the many other ways I could use light in different ways to make extra little additions to my lamp shades. |
This Lamp was made by a group called the Material Beliefs. Their lamp inspires me because of their use of light to make a cool pattern on the wall, this shows me that shadows of a lamp shade can be as important as the lamp shade itself. |

How To Hold the Lamp Shades Together
To keep the lamp shades in place I had to come up with some ideas. The idea is to use thread, ribbon or string to hold it together. These are some tests I did to show that this technique can be used for both paper and plastic. ( This technique does require a lot of time )
Testing the Lamp Shades
This is what the lamp should look like when I am close to finishing it. I tested out the different combinations of paper and plastics to see what the shadows would look like. For the lamp shades I will use green and blue plastic and paper on the inside to create a shadow effect.

LampScape
For my first idea, I came up with a cityscape around a lampshade. I removed one of the copper rings and the actual lampshade which left only the lamp itself and one copper ring. The land/city scape I'm going to be creating is stuff I see on my journey. To make the land/city scape I am designing an outline of the tops of the buildings on a software called 2D design. Then I will measure the circumfrence of the ring and cut some plastic using a laser cutter to the right measurements. These are the images I am going to use:

Route of the journey
A way to plan out a journey is to put sections of a map on the wall and plan a route out using string. Adding in images of the places, names, roads and landmarks.
