Joan Miro - Mobiles

Joan Miro was a Spanish painter and sculptor. I have found some pictures of the mobile sculptors he has designed. These mobiles have inspired me to create my own mobile for my alternative sketchbook.

Lizzie Mary Cullen

Lizzie Mary Cullen's work is based in psychogeography and mapping urban landscapes. Her work inspires me because of the creative ways to redesign the way places look like. She uses Rapidograph pens all of her work, which means all of her art work is in Black and White.

Roa

Roa is a Blegian street artist from Ghent. He inspires me because of his imaginative ways to create amazing art. I am doing a lot of my art in black and white so I found his art great for idea's for my topic of travelling, so I am thinking of drawing Scottish animals such as a stag in good detail.

Ullapool

This is Ullapool, I arrive here on the Cal Mac ferry. Ullapool is a small town in the north-west of Scotland, but for me it's the start of a long journey to Inverness, Perth, Glasgow and finally Appleby. The landscape is very mountainous all around the town which has inspired me to draw Ullapool as it is quite a remote place.

Stornoway

This is An Lanntair, an art gallery to show some local art in Stornoway. It is quite a new and unique building as it has an imaginative design which makes it a great building to draw.

This is the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry which takes me from Stornoway to Ullapool.
These are some of the buildings and ferry in Stornoway that are historical, new and creative buildings. They have inspired me to draw them in pencil or fineliner to show the start of my journey from Stornoway to Appleby.

Florian Afflerbach

Florian Afflerbach is an architectural artist, he sketches buildings, streets and draws some of the insides of buildings. Afflerbach's work has inspired me because of the detail in each and every section of the buildings he has drawn, he has a great use of shading and tone in the shadows and windows of each building. This has given me the idea to draw some of the insides of buildings and draw some of the outside scenery during my journey.

Matthew Brehm

The first artist that has inspired me is Matthew Brehm, he does lots of sketches and detailed drawings of both buildings and natural forms, his work is based in many different countries. Brehm's work has inspired me because of his use of shading and detail in some complex buildings. His work will relate to mine because I intend to draw some of the features such as bridges and buildings that  I usually see on my journey from Stornoway to Appleby.

My thoughts

This is the start of my blog for A level Art. The topic I have chosen to study is Travelling, from Scotland to England. First I will be looking at some of the artists to inspire me and give me idea's of what style to draw the places on my journey.
I have decided to do most of my work using pencils and fineliners because I think they will be useful to put extra detail in each of my drawings.
